WELDER FABRICATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Due to expansion and a sustained increase in work load Winton Engineering Ltd has a vacancy for a  Welder /Fabricator position. We operate a fully equipped machine shop and general engineering fabrication workshop. Our workshop is located on Great North Road Winton in the centre of rural heartland Southland. Located twenty minutes north of Invercargill. The Southern Lakes, Queenstown, The Catlans, and  Fiordland National Park are all within 2 hours drive of Winton.

The job vacancy is for a welder with extensive fabrication experience with the person filling the vacancy being required to be part of a team involved in the manufacture of new equipment and repair of a large range of agriculture, forestry, industrial and road transport equipment. This will include some scheduled and unscheduled off site repair and maintenance work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Material fabrication using press brake, rolls, shear, guillotine etc with skill.

  • Be competent at MIG, stick and TIG welding.

  • Communicating with clients and staff to solve engineering requirements.

  • Training of apprentices as required.

  • Maximising the use of the business resources for the benefit of clients, staff and the business.

Ideally. this person will

  • have extensive experience in Welding and Fabrication.

  • be able to operate press brake, rolls and other fabrication equipment to produce work efficiently and to a high standard

  • have a responsible and enthusiastic work ethic

  • be quality and productivity focused on both their individual work and as a team member

  • be able to take control of the workshop from time to time

  • be a strong team player

  • be able to work unsupervised

  • experience in turning and machining would be an advantage

A remuneration package including medical insurance will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Travel arrangements form Invercargill can be negotiated
